What is PittsburghFashion.com?
PittsburghFashion.com is an online portal for the fashion and shopping industries in Pittsburgh and its suburbs.
There is no other site that combines fashion news and events, plus a business directory of local stores in the fashion industry, all related to the Pittsburgh fashion industry. The goal of PittsburghFashion.com is to fill that void.
Purpose of the system
PittsburghFashion.com allows people who are interested in the Pittsburgh fashion industry to learn about news and upcoming events related to Pittsburgh fashion. It also gives them access to directory information for a wide range of local businesses that specialize in fashion.
The site is also a forum for those interested in Pittsburgh fashion to voice their opinions or share information via a community discussion board. In addition to facilitating the sharing of information, the purpose of the discussion board is to create a sense of community among site visitors and to increase interest in Pittsburgh 's fashion industry.
Log in
1. Connect to www.pittsburghfashion.com in the web browser of your choice.
2. Type your UserID in the appropriate text field within the login box.
3. Type your Password in the appropriate text field within the login box.
4. Click the Log In button when finished.
*Note – You do not need to be logged into PittsburghFashion.com to view any content, however some functionality is restricted to registered users.
Log out
Once you have connected to www.pittsburghfashion.com, you will automatically be taken to the Home page. On this page you will see links to news and event highlights, be able to participate in the poll, and navigate to other areas of the site.
View news and events highlights
1. On the home page you can click on links to highlighted events (located on the right side of the page), or highlighted news stories (located on the left side of the page).
2. To view a news article in its entirety, click on the “more” link at the bottom of the paragraph. To view an event announcement, click on the link in the events box on the right side of the page.
3. The news article or event announcement will be displayed.
Participate in Poll
1. To vote in the poll, click on the radio button that corresponds to your choice.
2. Click on the “vote” button to enter your vote and view the results.
3. To view the results of the poll without voting, click on the “view results” link.
4. The results of the poll will be displayed.
The Personal Profile holds all your user information. You are the only person who has access to your profile. When you register at PittsburghFashion.com, you create your personal profile. You may edit your profile at any point after registering.
Create personal profile
1. From any page on PittsburghFashion.com, click on the “sign up” link at the top of the page.
2. Click on the “register new user” link.
3. Enter the information requested by the system, and then click on the “register” button.
Edit personal profile
1. After you have logged in, click on the “edit personal profile” link in the left side navigation bar.
2. A form will be displayed with your existing information. Edit the fields that you wish to change.
3. Click on the “apply changes” button.
4. Your updated profile will be displayed.
The search function allows users to search the entire PittsburghFashion.com site for particular topics without searching through the pre-defined navigation scheme. Users can also manually search for a particular business listing, event announcement, or news article by navigating to those areas of the site.
Performing a search
1. Enter a keyword (or phrase) in the text box at the upper right corner of the site.
2. Click on the “search” button.
3. Search results will be displayed.
View businesses
1. From any page on PittsburghFashion.com, click on the “businesses” link in the top navigation bar.
2. Click on the link for the category you wish to search.
3. If the category contains subcategories, click on the link for the subcategory you wish to search.
4. Click on the title of the business from the business list.
5. The business profile will be displayed.
View events
1. From any page on PittsburghFashion.com, click on the “events” link in the top navigation bar.
2. Click on the title of an event to display more detailed information.
3. You can also view events by clicking on the links in the events box on the home page.
View news
1. From any page on PittsburghFashion.com, click on the “news” link in the top navigation bar.
2. Click on the title of an article to display the full article.
3. You can also view news articles by clicking on the links on the home page.
Another benefit of being a registered user is the ability to post customer reviews of businesses that are listed in the PittsburghFashion.com business directory. All reviews must be approved by an administrator before they are available on the site. All users may view business reviews.
Write reviews of businesses
1. Click on the “submit review” link in the profile of the business you wish to review.
2. A review form will be displayed. Enter a title and content for the review.
3. Click the “submit review” button.
4. A confirmation page will be displayed, indicating that the review has been submitted to an administrator for approval.
Read other users' reviews
• Reviews are available in the business profile. To view a review for a business, see View Businesses.
All registered businesses may submit event announcements to the administrator for approval. After an event has been approved and is available on the site, businesses may edit the content of their event(s).
Post event information
1. After you have logged in as a business, click on the “post event” link in the side navigation bar.
2. The event form will be displayed.
3. Enter all relevant and required information, and click the “submit event” button.
4. The event will be sent to the administrator for approval.
Edit event information
1. After you have logged in as a business, click on the “edit event” link in the side navigation bar.
2. All upcoming events that you have posted will be displayed.
3. Click on the title of the event you wish to edit.
4. A form will be displayed with all event information. Edit the fields that you wish to change, and click on the “update” button.
5. A confirmation page will be displayed, and the changes will be available immediately.
Create business profile
2. Click on the “register new business” link.
3. Enter the information requested by the system, and then click on the “submit” button.
4. Your information will be stored and sent to the administrator for approval.
Edit business profile
1. After you have logged in, click on the “edit business profile” link in the left side navigation bar.
2. A form will be displayed with your business's existing information. Edit the fields that you wish to change.
